CATCH family-friendly clean up event

One of the regular activities we organise is a litter-pick and general cleanup of the river and its surroundings. Some of these are small affairs with just committee members and a few regulars, but we try to publicly advertise and organise events for the whole family to attend and get involved.

During 2013 we have had considerable success with these cleanup events, on each occasion removing several large sacks full of rubbish from the river and its surroundings. When water levels are low, we’ve been able to take children into the river (much to their delight!) to assist, and failing that we can simply remove litter from the hedges and grass areas nearby. We hope to arrange several more such events during 2014; hopefully they will eventually become a regular, long-term event which people can keep in their diaries.
